And The Winners Keep Coming For Jet Away Ahead Of Cheltenham

Leading young sire Jet Away continues his great run on the racecourse, with Cheltenham-bound Cool Jet adding his name to the list of winners in recent weeks, while previous bumper winner Dreams Of Home won a novice hurdle at Carlisle.

The Willie Mullins-trained Cool Jet could not have been more impressive winning a bumper at Thurles on 15 February and his champion trainer confirmed he is on track for a start at the Cheltenham Festival in the Champion Bumper (Gr 1, 2m1/2f).

“That was more like his homework and it’s great to put that on the back of his disappointing run at Leopardstown,” Mullins told the Racing Post after the race.

“Jody [Townend] said he was quite keen and she said she was taking a pull turning in, that’s how well she appeared to be going. Jody was full of him and he showed us that form earlier on in the season.”

Jet Away, who arguably has made one of the best starts at stud in recent times, also had his promising novice hurdler Dreams Of Home win his second race at Carlisle over 2m1f on 16 February.

Jet Away’s success has not been limited to the racecourse with his progeny also proving popular in the sales ring selling up to a high of £300,000 when his daughter Hollymount sold to Noel and Valerie Moran’s Bective Stud at the 2021 Goffs UK Online January Sale. Jet Away’s previous highest-priced horse, Brandy Love (£200,000 – 2020 Tattersalls Cheltenham February Sale), holds entries for the Cheltenham Festival in both the Champion Bumper and Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (Gr 2, 2m1f).

While at last year’s yearling sales Jet Away’s progeny averaged €37,000 at the Goffs Land Rover Sale and Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, headed by a half-brother to Grade Three winner Zero Ten who sold for €50,000 to Red Gap Partnership.

A good book of mares is being assembled for the 2021 breeding season including Grade One winner Laurina who was purchases for €290,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale by Douglas Taylor’s Ridgewood Stud.

“Jet Away is taking great strides in his young career,” commented Arctic Tack Stud’s Eoin Bainville who stands Jet Away. “A week hardly goes by without more racecourse or sales success.

“We are eagerly looking forward to the Cheltenham Festival in hope of a winner or two!

“His book is filling up for this season and it is particularly pleasing to see the quality of mares also increasing.”

Jet Away will stand at Arctic Tack Stud for a fee of €6,000 (€4,000 for a filly) in 2021.
