Appeal of Cape Cross Boosted By Golden Derby Win

Arctic Tack Stud’s Jet Away is a son of Darley’s Cape Cross, whose reputation has been boosted once again this summer by the brilliant Golden Horn.

The John Gosden-trained colt made a winning start to his career in October last year and returned this year with victory in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket.

He built on that impressive display with a win in the Dante Stakes and confirmed the promise of that form with a memorable Derby win at Epsom earlier in June.

Breeders are already eagerly anticipating the beginning of Golden Horn’s stud career, with the appetite for sons of Cape Cross already well established.

Sea The Stars, a champion on the track himself, has made an exceptional start to his stud career and has already sired a pair of Classic winners in Sea The Moon and the brilliant mare Taghrooda.

Jet Away offers breeders another opportunity to access the Cape Cross sireline and many have already jumped at the chance, with the Group Three winner set to cover 180 mares in his first year at Arctic Tack Stud.

“Cape Cross is clearly proving himself a sire of sires and breeders have already recognised the great potential in Jet Away,” the stallion’s owner Douglas Taylor said.

Taylor is hopeful of finding an opportunity to stand Jet Away in Australasia, where he would become Cape Cross’s first stallion son, something he is sure would excite Southern Hemisphere breeders.

“The potential of sons of Cape Cross has already been noticed by breeders in Australasia and beyond,” Taylor said.

“I’m sure they would be excited to have the opportunity to send their mares to one of his excellent Group Three winners, who would surely have gone on to add his name to Cape Cross’s Group One honour roll had his career not been cut short.”
